Children's Swimming Lessons

  • All of our instructors carry Nationally recognised Swim qualifications. 
  • All instructors are garda vetted and trained in Sport Irelands safeguarding practices.     
  • We provide both group and individual swimming lessons. 
  • All group lessons are booked online, and individual lessons are booked through reception. For more information, please visit the online booking section of our website. Priority booking is given to swimmers already in lessons with us. 
  • Full payment required to secure bookings and must be made prior to the lessons commencing. 
  • Group lessons are generally a 8 week block and and run for 30mins. 
  • Group size vary on the ability of swimmers. 
  • Individual private lessons are arranged based on availability of our instructors. These classes run for 30mins for single and 45mins for duo bookings.
  • Please arrive 10 min before your booking to allow smooth check in at the desk.
  • Parents/guardian per child is allowed to supervise and spectate their child's swimming lesson. 
  • We recommend all swimmers to arrive beach ready with swim gear under your clothes.
  • We recommend that parents/guardians practice with your child, putting on their own swimming hat and goggles on, as the instructors will be unable to help with this.

lessons, what will we be learning?

Jessie Jellyfish Level 1

  • Enter and exit the water safely -
  • Submerge face in the water and exhale through mouth and nose
  • Float on front and back with support
  • Push and glide on front and back with arms by side with support
  • Propel through the water for 5m with and support/without support
  • Push and pull the water to complete one vertical rotation with support
  • Jump in, complete one vertical rotation and propel to the side of the pool with support
  • Sit and Swivel into deep water and climb out

Daisy Duckling

  • Demonstrate 10m dolphin action in a streamlined position
  • Demonstrate a 10m flutter klick on front and back in a streamlined position
  • Demonstrate 5 consecutive breaststroke leg actions in a streamlined position
  • Demonstrate one butterfly arm action in horizontal position
  • Demonstrate backstroke arms over 5m
  • Demonstrate 5 consecutive breaststroke arm actions in a standing position
  • Demonstrate frontcrawl arms over 5m
  • Propel 10m, tread water for 60 seconds. Receive and old and float for a further 60 seconds and propel to the furthest wall
  • Demonstrate a kneeling dive

Toby Turtle

  • Demonstrate 25m dolphin action in a streamlined position
  • Demonstrate 25m futter kick on front and back in a streamlined position
  • Kick 25m breaststroke in a streamlined position
  • Demonstrate butterfly arms over 15m
  • Demonstrate backstroke arms over 15m
  • Demonstrate breaststroke arms over 15m
  • Demonstrate frontcrawl arms over 15m
  • Scull Sm on front, head first utilizing a figure of 8 Oction to move forwards with arms extended
  • Demonstrate a grab start support

Academy

  • Demonstrate an understanding of changes in heart rate and effort, Ullsing basic heart rate measuring techniques and the Borg scale of Rate of Perceived Exertion -Demonstrate an understanding of a warm up and cool down and explain the importance within an aerobic training environment
  • Swim 50m backstroke / breaststroke/frontcrawl
  • Swim 200m without stopping, maintaining stroke technique without
  • Swim 10 x 50m of choice stroke maintaining technique without
  • Swim 6 x 100m of choice of stroke maintaining technique without
  • Swim 10 x 25m of choice of kick maintaining technique without
  • Swim 10 x 25m of choice of arms maintaining technique without
  • Demonstrate the effective use of a pace clock to manage tum around time. torget time and rest time
  • Demonstrate an understanding of stroke count and identity personal stroke count for each of the four competitive strokes
  • Swim 50m butterfly, starting from the block with up to 15m undulation, legal turn and effective pull out
  • Swim Som bockstroke, demonstrating an effective stort, including tumble tum and up to 15m underwater undulation with put-out
  • Swim Som breaststroke, storting from the block, including legatum underwater action and effective pull out
  • Swim 50m frontcrawl, starting on the block, including tumbleturn and up to 15m underwater undulation with put out
  • Swim 100m individual medley with legal turns and underwaterphoses
  • Spring off the bottom of the pool in vertical streamlined position, utilise kick to maintain head of the water for a minimum of 15 seconds
  • Demonstrate effective sculing technique on front and back in L.Y. V and w positions

Jessie Jellyfish level 2

  • Demonstrate ten consecutive submersions, exhaling through mouth and nose
  • Retrieve an object with face fully submerged at full extension of the arm
  • Float on front and back in a streamline position
  • Rotate from front and back and back to front with arms by side
  • Push and glide on front and back with arms in streamlined position
  • Propel through water for 5m
  • Push and pull the water to complete one vertical rotation
  • Jump in, complete a horizontal rotation onto back and propel to the side of the pool

Sammy Starfish

  • Demonstrate 5m dolphin action in a streamlined position
  • Demonstrate 5m flutter kick on front and back in a streamlined position
  • Demonstrate one breaststroke leg action in a streamlined position on back
  • On back, rotate up to 90 degrees on each side, with arms by side for 5m while kicking
  • Perform a surface dive to retrieve an object
  • Push and pull the water to complete one vertical rotation clockwise and one anticlockwise with legs in a tucked position
  • Scull 5m on back, head first utilizing a figure of 8 action to move backwards with arms by your side
  • Demonstrate a sitting dive
  • Tread water, using arms and legs for 30 seconds whilst calling for help. receive on aid and maintain a floating position with the aid for a further 60 seconds

Freddy Frog

  • Demonstrate 15m dolphin action in a streamlined position 
  • Demonstrate 15m flutter kick on front and back in a streamlined position Kick 15m breaststroke in a streamlined position 
  • Demonstrate 5 consecutive butterfly arm actions in a horizontal position 
  • Demonstrate backstroke arms over 10m 
  • Demonstrate breaststroke arms over 10m 
  • Demonstrate frontcrawiams over 10m SCUT Sm on the bock, feet first sing a ligure of 8 actions to move forwards with arms by side
  • Demonstrate a standing dive

Jack Jaws

  • Demonstrate butterfly over 25m
  • Demonstrate backstroke over 25m
  • Demonstrate breaststroke over 25m
  • Demonstrate frontcrawl with bilateral breathing over 25m
  • Demonstrate 100m of continuous swimming Uhlising fullstroke technique in any of the four strokes
  • Demonstrate a frontcrawl tumble fum
  • Demonstrate a backstroke tumble turn
  • Scull Sm on back feetfirstutising a figure if 8 Oction to move to move forwards with arms extended above the head
  • Demonstrate 5m underwater undulation on front and back from a dive and backstroke stort
  • Demonstrate a track start
